The Langtang region is The third most popular trekking area in Nepal but receives only fraction of the crowds that hit the Annapurna and Everest trails. Langtang has many things going for it: it’s close to Kathmandu there’s a wide range of scenery; you get right into the Mountains within a couple of days, the accommodation is good and there are lots of possible trek combinations. The trek ascends the Langtang Valley from just 1470 m at Syabrubesi to 3820 m at Kyanjin Gompa, Past ever-changing scenery and Tamang villages to a collection of high alpine pastures, glaciers and peaks on the border with Tibet. Although the trek passes through lightly populated and undeveloped areas, there are still plenty of lodges along the route.
