The Langtang region is The third most popular trekking area in Nepal but
receives only fraction of the crowds that hit the Annapurna and Everest
trails. Langtang has many things going for it: it’s close to Kathmandu
there’s a wide range of scenery; you get right into the Mountains within
a couple of days, the accommodation is good and there are lots of possible trek combinations. The trek
ascends the Langtang Valley from just 1470 m at Syabrubesi to 3820 m at
Kyanjin Gompa, Past ever-changing scenery and Tamang villages to a
collection of high alpine pastures, glaciers and peaks on the border
with Tibet. Although the trek passes through lightly populated and
undeveloped areas, there are still plenty of lodges along the route. The
trail offers exceptionally diverse scenery and culture.The superb day
hikes from Kyanjin Gompa in particular offer spectacular close-up views
of the surrounding peaks and glaciers of Langtang Lirung (7246m),
Kimshung (678
1m), Langshisha Ri
(6370m) and Potential add-ons to a Langtang trek Include a
six-day trek along the Tamang Heritage Trail or a visit to the Gosainkund
lakes, after which you can either return Dhunche (12 days total) or
continue over the Laurebina La to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Your arrival to Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be welcomed by
our guide and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel (Bed &
Breakfast).
Day 02: Kathmandu City Tour
In the morning after breakfast, depart from the hotel for exciting tour around Kathmandu at
places of great interest, Kathmandu city and its valley steeped with
historical and religious monuments temples and monasteries listed as
World Heritage Sites.

- Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi
- From Kathmandu
driving towards north through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to
Syabru Besi, passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at
the bank of Trishuli River we will catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, the
terraces and the green hills. Drive to Syabru Besi will take about nine
hours.

- Day 04: Syabru Besi (1600 m) to Lama Hotel (2470 m)
- The trail
branches off Syabrubesi's main road by a police post (you'll need register) and crosses a suspension bridge over the Bhote Kosi.Turn right at
the eastern end of the bridge and climb through the Village of Old
Syabru to cross bridge to the south side of the Langtang Khola.The trek
becomes a pleasant walk through trees where langur monkeys frolic,
passing a bridge, a small waterfall and Bhattis (village inns) beside
the stream at Doman (1680m). The trail then makes a steep climb over a
rocky ridge to the easily missed junction where the route from Thulo
Syabru joins from above.
It's then a long climb in forest past the waterfalls and two lodges of
Pairo (meaning "landslide'; 1800m) to Bamboo, a cluster of hotels at
1930m. Beyond Bamboo the trail crosses the Dangdung Khola, then climbs
steel suspension bridge over the Lanstang Khola at 2000m. On the north
bank of the Langtang Khola the route climbs alongside a series of water
falls formed by a jumble of house-sized boulders. Climb steeply to a
landslide and two sets of lodges, 15 minutes apart, at RENCHE (2400m),
and then gently to a collection six lodges at CHANGTANG. Popularly known
Lama Hotel, at 2480m. Duration 5 hours.

- Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430 m) via Ghore Tabela (3000 m)
- The
trail continues to follow the LANGTANG Khola, climbing steeply
through a forest of hemlocks, maples and rhododendrons, past isolated
lodges at Gumanchok (Riverside) and Ghunama to the popular lunchtime spot
of Ghora Tabela (2970m). There are fine Views Langtang Lirung from
here, which you can admire as the army checks your national park entry
permit. From Ghora Tabela the trail climbs more gradually through a
U-shaped glacial valley to the villages of Thangshyap, Ghumba and
finally Langtang (3430m) The national park headquarters is here, along
with a cooperative bakery, a dozen lodges and lots of yaks. Duration 6
hours.

- Day 06: Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3870 m)
- It only takes
the morning (passing through small villages) to climb to Kyanjin Gompa
(3860m) where there is a monastery, several lodges and two cheese
factories (May to December). It's worth spending two full days here to
really appreciate the scenery. Duration 3 hours.

- Day 07: Rest Day at Kyanjin Gompa
- From
Kyanjin Gompa you can climb to a viewpoint at 4300 m. On the glacial
moraine to the north for superb views of Langtang Lirung. The most
popular day hike is to the moraine Kyanjin Ri viewpoint (4600m), while a
tough er option is the climb to Tsergo Ri (4984 m) Another popular long
day hike leads up valley to the pastures around Langshisha Kharka for
more spectacular views. To return to Syabrubesi, take the same path back
down the valley. To connect to Gosainkund trek, take the left branch at
junction just before Doman and climb Thulo Syabru.

- Day 08: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2470 m)
- Kyanjin
Gompa to Lama Hotel is
longest day walk in Langtang valley. Lama Hotel is at a height of 2470 above sea level and is a famous
resting spot. Trek pass throw flat and gradually descent trail along
Langtang Khola, crossing Mundu, Langtang village, Ghode tabela,
Gumnachowk and finally at Lama Hotel.
The valley is really ancient and is a glaciated which saw the Himalayan
glacier from the last ice age, thus being one of the oldest undisturbed
valleys in the lap of the Himalayas. Its typical flora and fauna, along
with the lush green forests and the great view of snow capped high
mountain peaks of the Langtang. Duration about 6 hours.

- Day 09: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syapru (2260 m)
- The
beginning of the trail is gently getting down to a landslide and then
then steeply up to Thulo Syabru. We could see again red pandas, monkeys
and various species of birds. Thulo Syabru is one of the wonderful
villages from where you can enjoy the amazing land feature and the
magnificent nature with the addition of the splendid views of the Ganesh
Himal (7110 m) and about the Langtang Himal and its ranges.
Duration 5 hours.

- Day 10: Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (3250 m)
- The
trail from Thulo Syabru to Foprang Danda (3200 m) climbs over
steeply slopes, passing through Dursagang (2660 m) along with the
view of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Tibetan Mountain and oak, hemlock,
first forests.
The path then gently goes up for some distances till we will start to
follow it on a flat level to Sing Gompa. The place is well known because
of a well-managed local cheese factory considered the best in Nepal
and, a Buddhist Monastery. If time permits, we may relax at the place,
also highly recommended for excursions in and around the Sing Gompa
where we got astonishing panoramic views. About
four and half hours.

- Day 11: Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4361 m) via Lauribinayak-La (3920 m)
- Trail
starts gently up to Lauribinayak and its exotic feeling. Then climbing
all the way to Gosaikunda following a rugged path with dramatic views of
the Himal Chuli (7893 m), the Manaslu Range (8156 m) and the Ganesh
Himal Range (7406 m), a few tibetan peaks and the Langtang Lirung. If
there is clear wether, also can see Annapurna range.
Passing across a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, crossing a
small ridge to have our first views of the holy lakes. There are about a
dozen lakes in the Gosainkunda Basin, the main three being
Saraswatikunda, Bhairabkunda, and Gosainkunda. According to legend,
Gosainkunda was created by Lord Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his
trident to obtain water and then quench his thirst after having
swallowed a poison which threatened to destroy the world. Duration 5
hours.

- Day 12: Back to Dhunche ( 7 hours)
- The trail today goes down
all the way to Sing Gompa passing Lauribanayak with its magnificent
mountain views and forests. From Chandan Bari first part of our last
day's trail goes down through pine, silver oak and rhododendrons forests
with marijuana plants in everywhere when we cross the suspension bridge
over the Sing Gompa Stream. Now, the path stretches at flat level
through few human settlements and mineral water factories near by
Dhunche, a small town and the headquarters of Rasuwa district. About 9
hours.
